Project & My Role

A window and door manufacturer approached us with a clear need: build a quoting system that replaces outdated, unsupported desktop software. My responsibility was to lead the product design from scratch – research, wireframes, flows, interface, and dev-ready assets.

Over 3 months, I interviewed sales reps, estimators, and factory teams to understand how real quoting works, where mistakes happen, and what slows them down. The research revealed two things:

People rely heavily on visual clarity and control in pricing, because one click too many can cost money.
Most tools on the market feel outdated and unapproachable to younger team members.

This became the foundation for a product that was fast, visual, and built to inspire confidence in both new and experienced users.

The Problem I Solved

Quoting windows was slow, manual, and risky.

Sales teams relied on outdated tools or spreadsheets that required 10–15 minutes per request. One mistake in copying dimensions or selecting the wrong component could ruin the whole quote. Junior team members struggled to learn product catalogs, while experienced reps lost time repeating the same steps.

The company needed one platform that could:

What I Designed & Why

The product starts with a custom inbox, where sales reps receive quote requests with PDFs or form submissions. With one click, the AI parses the document and breaks down each window into a clear list of components.

I designed a modular quote builder with steps inspired by the automotive industry’s configurators – because research showed the window market is moving in that direction. Users can select models, customize glass types, seals, and extras – all in a guided visual flow.

Since junior employees often struggle with complex catalogs, I integrated a live “Ask AI” panel into the same screen, allowing them to ask product questions without leaving the quote.

To handle repetitive jobs, I created pre-configured window templates based on usage frequency. The UI was designed to feel sharp, modern, and trust-building, something the industry lacked.

SUMMARY

This wasn’t just a nicer UI for an old process. I redesigned the experience around real human behavior, business risks, and future scalability. The result was a product that not only saves time, but also makes quoting easier to learn, harder to mess up, and genuinely enjoyable to use.
